The Lower Colorado River Authority has announced a crackdown on “water thieves” — that is, property owners residing on hillsides above Lake Travis and other Highland Lakes who take water illegally from the lakes. Additional rangers will patrol the lakes during the hottest and driest months of August and September, when water use is highest. Rangers will issue a warning at the first violation and then forward the case to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. (TWC News)
